Logos visit- December 2011

Last Saturday, Me and Chin visited Logos Hope ship which anchored in VivoCity. Being inspired by one of Indonesian blogger who joined this type of missionary ship, We hope one day we can join the ship, too...

Talking about this ship, it was started in Germany 1973 by the name of Doulos, the legacy of Logos. She was in service with GBA ships for over 32 years. The ship welcomed 21 million people on board and travelled all around the world. As a result, Doulos has awarded in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest active ocean- going passenger ships. The nautical miles shown that the ships has travelled around the world 16 times!

GBA ships purchased Logos in 1970, over 17 year she has religiously carried a mission of bringing knowledge, help and hope to people of the world. The ship welcomed more than 7 million visitor during her calling port in 102 countries. In 1988 Logos down in the sea between Argentine and Chile. There was no single crew member injured or lost their lives, even the ship could not be saved any more.

Logos II was constructed by Union Naval Levante SA of Valencia Spain and was renamed in its name right now by GBA ships in 1988, serving the people all around the world till now. Logos is also famous as the biggest floating book fair, carrying a huge library contains lots of books and helpful/ friendly staffs...sanctuary place for a book-fan like us :-D

Okie, enough for the historical thingy, find out more about the ships, here

Back to our little visit to Logos ship, here are the snapshots:

We end up bought few books to read. About the price of the book, it's so cheap but they only accept cash. The price of books not marked with SGD dollar or any dollar currency, instead it marked with unit. The Formula is 100 unit= SGD 4. The price range from 100 unit to 500 unit. Quite affordable, eh!? So I bought 2 books for myself and 1 children bible for Giselle, net net cost me about S$30 only. Little secret, me and Chin bought a same book which only cost 300 units. The title is secret but we are looking forward to read this book and have a brief discussion together...

For those who'd like to pay a visit to the ship, good news they will stay here till 4 January 2012. Then they will continue their journey to Cebu, Phillipines. According to their schedule, they will visit Indonesia as well.
