Week 12 and recap

Here is the recap:

I’ve just noticed that my long journey with Obagi is actually only 3 months!

For you, it’s only such a short period of 3 months. But for me, it’s like forever!

Within these 3 months, many things happened, tons of progression, up and down, and of course, improvements as well. Little did I know that within these past 3 months, I’ve only used my first Obagi bottle and my skin has improved tremendously.   This month is opening ceremony of my second bottle and I really am looking forward to it. I can’t imagine that I can stretch a bottle into 3 months usage. That’s shows how small is my face, hehehe. Or how stingy thrifty I am now, hehehe….

Here’s recap:

Month 1: week 1-4 Month of August.

This was where my skin gone under *construction* or *reconditioning*.  My skin flared up pretty badly, loads of whiteheads, blackheads, any heads came to surface. Loads of cover sticks worn. Not only that, the side effects from the Accutane were very bad, I could say, worst side effects, ever... Dry lips, dry eyes, fragile skin, muscle ache….Arrgghhh…. There was one point whereby I needed to stop doing physical activity because I couldn’t take it anymore.
But the good news is, my makeup stays very long, the first time I ever experience, not to blot my face throughout the day, even if I needed to blot, it’s only like, ½ a blot paper!? Good news, like my belly, my appetite is growing too.  :-D

Month 2: week 5-8

The lowest week, I supposed. Week 5-6 was the lowest week thus I lost count on the zits appeared and disappeared. Every zits came out, ripe, and disappeared. Just like that. The good news is, now I’m the master of concealer hahaha….no lah kidding. The good news is no more muscle ache since my body adjusting to the medication already.  Oh ya, the bad news is, my skin still fragile, as in, I bled a lot even the smallest scratches. There was once I pulled my nail bed and it was bleeding non-stop till I need to stop the bleeding with tissue.  In addition, I was still suffered from sun sensitivity to the extent that I need to use my umbrella when outdoors.

On the contrary, starting from week 7, my skin seems so much better. Realized that one day, I wake up, there was no sign of zits forming and yet, when I touch my face it feels silky smooth. I’m quite liking it, except for, the post-acne scar! If you are battling with acne same as me, you know that acne itself is not a big deal. They just come and ripe and go. BUT the acne scar is damn irritating because it’s really! You can see them very clearly and they stay there forever! There is no way to hide it besides using the concealer!

And also, I noticed that using Exfoderm on evening leaves some tingling sensation. Although it was subside overtime but I still asked my derma about it. Since it’s small issue, I didn’t  let myself sweat over it.

Thinking back, week 7 is the breakthrough week for me because... a week before, I was cursing my zits like a sailor yet lost count of it (both zits and curses). And then the next week, suddenly I wake up to a beautiful face free of zits. Wow, all miracles said and done within a week time.

Week 8. The week that I found out my Holy Grail holy water, Avene.  Click for here more details.

Month 3: week 9- 12

Week 9, the thing that I want to highlight is that: my skin improved and I did some experiment on my skin, using back my MAC powder but found that these powder really don’t suit me at all. MAC product really breaks me out completely. High-end product doesn’t mean good quality product. Another thing that I can recall is that, my cholesterol level shot up.  Although I’m back exercising like a banshee but still, cholesterol level near the borderline.

And now,  week 12. Officially, I migrated from Acnotin 20mg to 10mg. Skin improved a lot thus my derma agreed to take down the dosage and stop the antibiotics until 1 Dec. I’m not sure about the Obagi but again, I emphasized, as I don’t mind to use it for the rest of my life, I just wondering it would be good if only I can use at night or alternate days….humanbeing really difficult to be pleased yo!

My next appointment will be on 30 Nov, which will mark week 16. I hope this will be my last derma appointment and continue to the next phase, maintenance phase. But since I am now on 10mg Acnotin, I need to finish this race until the finish line. There is no turning back for me.

That’s that. Next I will update again bi-weekly!!
