Joshua 1: 1-5 Connect Book Discussion

Yesterday our LG was about discussing Connect Book.
This Connect book is a daily devotional book, empowered by the book of Joshua, Nehemiah, and Thessalonians.  And good thing is, this book was given free by Hope Church. (Free one la I like :-D ).
So our small group discussion were discussing about Joshua 1:1-5. To give you a rough idea, Joshua is an appointed leader by God, after the death of Moses. He is ordered to lead his people into God’s promises land. So Joshua is like Moses's apprentice or stuff like that. Soon after reading the whole passage, there are 3 questions which very interesting. But in this post I’ll only share 2 yah…Stay tune....

1.   Consider how God is speaking to you today about taking ownership of the leadership role He has placed you recently? ( O_0)
Here is the Simplified question: How do you know that this leadership calling is from God? How to recognize God’s voice?
According to my leader, Its basically about how is your communication skill with God. How often you talk to God and how deep you know about God? Are you always busy with daily task and forget about devotional time? Are you always involved God in everyday life so that you can be sensitive enough to hear God’s voice/ command?
Conclusion is, every people have different kind of ways in communicating with God. It can be advice from your leader, it can be from your devotional quiet time, and it can be from God’s sign in everyday life. So be true to yourself.

2. How do you overcome the overwhelming feelings that sometime come when taking on a new ministry, etc despite knowing that its task from God?
Simplified question: How do you overcome fear when taking on His calling, ex: taking up new ministry, church planting, mission trip, etc...
For me personally, I will hold on into His promise. Knowing the truth that God’s plan is good, is good enough for me to do whatever He wants me to do. True enough, it was confirmed again when Ufong said, God will never test you whatever beyond your power.
Another friend had a different opinion, they just surrender to God and do whatever God ask them to do. Do-ers rather than Think-ers. Good enough. Again I emphasize, every people have different kind of ways / style so be true to yourself.

How I love this kind of interactive discussion about Word of God/ Bible verse which really extremely exciting! I close my post with this verse. Joshua 1: 9, “Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Amen.

Herbal Remedies for Headache

I have been suffering from severe headache lately. Not exactly severe but it always relapse weekly. Well, I can say, always in the week-end (Saturday- Sunday). As far as I remember, there was once I have been taking Panadol up to 8 tablets a day and yet the pain is still freaking there. I just wondering what happened to my brain!?

According to Dr. Oz there are three types of headache:  (not sure which episode- it was broadcasted on Channel 5 lately)

 1. Tension headache.
The muscles around forehead are tightened and extremely stiff, continue all the way down to neck area. The culprit is lack of sleep and stress. How to prevent, of course, improves quality of sleep and reduce stress. How to cure, in medical point of view, aspirin is the fastest and bestest way to cure headache, but we all agreed it's not wise to always depend on aspirin like 24/7. Instead of aspirin, we can try to take herbal remedies such as ginger tea or peppermint tea. It’ll help to reduce as well as benefit to digestion, too.

2. Cluster Headache.
Pain looks like many needles pocking into eye-area. The symptoms are teary-eyes, runny-nose, and uncomfortable precise-ache around eye-area. Dr. Oz never mentioned a thing about prevention but do staying in front of monitor without taking a break is one of the main reasons. He recommends rubbing capsaicin cream inside nose. Not sure what capsaicin cream is, but for Chinese, normally we used to rub medicated oil into our temple area. I think it works the same way. :-D

3. Migraine.
Okie for this one, I don’t think you need the exact explanation as most of us do experience migraine, rite? But migraine usually accompanied by a throbbing and painful feeling, which only at one side of head. Normally, we will be very hypersensitive to light and sound. Taking herbs, feverfew (it’s a kin of sunflower) will help to reduce inflammation and eased the pain.

So I think for my case, my headache-ness is categorized into the first one, tension headache. To prevent it, I have to tell myself to RELAX and try to SLEEP early. REDUCE STRESS as much as possible. I consider drinking chamomile and peppermint tea for creating a soothing feeling. I even store my pillow-spray besides my pillow. So every time I feel difficulty to fall asleep, just spray it throughout pillow and feel the scent until it brings me to La La Land. Zzzzz….
Okie… How about your’s?

Count God's Blessing

TGIF!!!!!

I’ve been discouraged lately. Mood swings. Hormones change. Emotional breakdown. Whatsoever….

I don’t know why but I feel like doing nothing. Lazy to socialize. Meeting friends wtf.

These days I really enjoy myself pretty much. Busy-ing myself with just to work, do work-out, go home, study, listening to radio till sleepy calls. The next day repeat the same activity again. Proudly I admit that I am a loner. I prefer to stay at home rather than hang out with friends.  If I need to go out, I prefer to be on my own. Doing my own things. I need my own quiet time, my own clarity, and my own space…I think it’s my own way to de-stressed so that the next day I'll able focus on my work.

But having said that, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to count God’s blessing in my life. Especially this week, I have been blessed with a lot of things from God. This week is a blitz week of CISCO and HP. So they throw sponsor free foods for us. The list goes:

Monday-  Free snack Applepie Ritz sponsored by CISCO.
Tuesday-  Free snack Garret Popcorn sponsored by CISCO. Plus I got $100 CapitaMall vouchers from last year Lenovo’s spiff program. Yeah! :-D
Wednesday- Free Frolick Yogurt sponsored by CISCO. Free Lunch & Learn by LG.
Thursday- Free Buffet Tea break sponsored by HP.
Friday- Free Lunch & Learn by CISCO.
This month I’ll get bonus. Can't wait, counting the days!  :-D
Errr....my-so-called-blessings are all about free fooooddddd….Like this how to lose weightttt….Haiz….

Mary Kay Satin Lip Mask and Lip Balm

Mary Kay Satin Lip mask and Lip balm.

What is the benefit of exfoliation?  Exfoliation plays significant part to our skin, to remove dead skin as well as enhance the new skin generated.

Recently, I've been searching up and down to a product which can exfoliate lips. In the internet, there are lots of products and methods on how to exfoliate lips. From the mildest one, such as using honey and sugar to scrub your lips gently. Until the scariest one, such as using toothbrush and rub it into your lips. OMG, how can a person recommend to use toothbrush, a harsh brush of toothbrush to exfoliate a mild gentle lips? Toothbrush is for teeth not lips, please! Do they know that our lip-skin is pretty mild and sensitive!? Be gentle to your skin, okie....

Okay, Been love with this products pretty much! Mary Kay Satin Lip mask and Lip balm.

The lip mask is to exfoliate lips gently and the lip balm to moisturise lips afterwards.

 Packaging

So how to use it?

First, squeeze small amount of product to a Q-tips and apply gently to lips. Leave it for 2-3mins. Your lips will look funny because it looks like there is some white-residue ( its a product, ok don't worry) all over your lips. Here is the lip mask snapshot:

 Lip Mask

Then using wet Q-tips, gently remove the so-called white residue with circular motion. Clean it with wet tissue. Soon after, using the lip balm, squeeze some little amount and apply it to your lips. Believe me, it can moisturise up to 6 hours.

Lip Balm

You can buy separately, but its recommended to buy both because its like a mother and daughter package. :-D  Use both to achieve the best result. I definitely add this as my weekly routine. Healthy and kissable lips can be easily achieved, yeah!

Mother and daughter
Lip Mask $24 and Lip Balm $20

The Synergy of Brain- Proactive Behaviour

Good morning, everyone...what a BLUEEE Monday....I hope this long and quite complicated post won't make you feel blue, or green, or red, or whatever colour due to confusion. :-D

I just attended ICE training last week. Basically ICE is Internal Customer Excellence training conducted by my company. For the very first time, they conducted this training in order to educate its staffs how to implement good attitude at workplace. So from my team, me and my girl- colleague, together with approximately 20 associates, were the first batched attending this training. Yesss we are guinea pigs *oink oink* .They also come to the extent of videoing the whole entire training process, so that the management know what the training is all about….and most probably they will take this training into management consideration and implement it into other region.

Cut story short, basically this Ang Moh trainer is giving the idea on how to have a good team-work and some proactive communication skills in order to get the job done. The best part, the trainer has excellent communication + interpersonal skill hence he could perform the presentation very clearly. Even he gave some examples which are related to our everyday duties. The class was quite interactive, a lot of laughter and opinions came from participants. The material given is very useful and easy to understand. We had some fun plus learnt something new.

I’m not able to tell you exactly what is the training all about but here I’ll share one interesting facts. It's about our brain.

Below is the synergy of our brain. Pardon my drawing :-D

Synergy of Brain

Our excellent brain divided by 3 functions, as you can see from below to above
1. Reptilian (spontaneous reaction)
This part of brain is in charge of controlling our sensory integration. For instance, when our body heat increase, your body will automatically produce sweat because this reptilian brain send message to part of your body (skin) to produce sweat in order to balance your body temperature. The interesting part is, you don't need to ask your brain to produce sweat, its auto and beyond our control. It's a spontaneous reaction.

2. Mammalian (emotional reaction)
This part of brain is in charge of controlling our emotions such as anger, sad, disappointment, and etc... For instance, you will feel sad when you feel lonely.  You will feel happy when someone who dear to you care about you.

3. Rationale (intellectual reaction)
This part of brain is in charge of controlling our intellectuality. This is our most treasure which differentiates us with animals. This brain takes a big part especially when you study, learn, memorize, explore something new, planning, making decisions, and etc…

This is the most interesting part.
Tell you the truth, we, human being, is a very reactive creature. We act because we want to react to the particular matters/ objects. Without our realizing it, our reaction is normally controlled by our environment.
Understood?
Okie, give you example, normally if someone pinch your hand and you felt hurt, what would you do? Would you feel angry and pinch her back? Or would you just keep quiet and does nothing like heartless human? Of course the answer will definitely the first one. Remember we are a reactive creature…So reactive human are used to adapt reactive behaviour. Make sense, right?

Formula for Reactive Behaviour.

Meaning, people who adapt reactive behaviour, when the stimulus arise, he will respond immediately.  Why? Here is the explanation.

                                                       Synergy of Reactive Behaviour

As you can see in the picture, when stimulus comes, it will go thru to the very first reptilian brain, continue to mammalian brain, and finally reach to rationale brain. But sometimes, because the stimulus is happening so fast, your mammalian brain (which controls your emotion) begin to shut down completely. So the stimulus stuck in mammalian brain thus cannot reach rationale brain. Suddenly you cannot think straight anymore. You gone berserk, you gone like mad bull. Without you realizing it, your mammalian brain takes control over you and won't allow your rationale brain to work. End of the day, you did something that you’ll regret someday.

FYI, alcohol and drugs are the best stimulus to activate mammalian brain plus shutting down rationale brain. That is why when you drink too much alcohol and drugs, you can do something stupid nor beyond your control, but you won't remember a single thing when you sober in the next morning. scary, huh...

Here is the formula for Proactive Behaviour.

Meaning people who adapt proactive behaviour, when the stimulus arise, he will pause to think for a while, and then respond wisely.  Here is the explanation.

Synergy of Proactive Behaviour

When stimulus comes, same again, it will go thru to the very first reptilian brain, continue to mammalian brain, and finally reach to rationale brain. But instead of letting your mammalian brain take control over you, you pause for a while, give some little time until the stimulus reaches the rationale brain. That way, you begin to let your rationale brain to take control of your action  You are able to think straight. You gone wiser. Your acts and decisions are the best. Bet ya, the result is excellence. :-D

See the difference?

So if you want to grow wiser, do adapt proactive behaviour. Remember to add your "Pause" before your response.

Talking about the “Pause” method, I remember it has been mentioned before in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People book by Stephen Covey. The synergy is about the same. According to Stephen, the “Pause” button is exactly located in our forehead, push button to activate it, pause for a while, and allow yourself to think straight.
It can be used to train anger management, too. Hope this piece of humble information is useful for you. :-D

Ciao!

Daily Brush Cleaner

Do you know that its important to clean your make up brushes daily?  Reapplying your make up using unclean brushes will bring all the bacteria into your skin and guess what!? Your skin start to break out.
Don't blame the foundation or face products if you have a major break out, hey, maybe the culprit is actually the unclean brush that you use, girl :-D

I recommend to clean your make up brushes daily after application and deep cleansing it weekly.

How to clean it daily? especially morning time when you rushing to office/school?
For daily cleaner, use daily spray brush cleaner product. How to use it, after make up application, put your dirty brush on tissue paper. Spray the cleaner into the hair brush, swirl it into tissue paper, as you swirl, you can see that the tissue paper will get dirtier coz all of the products on your brush goes into tissue paper and voila......your brush is clean and ready to use for next application.

How to clean it weekly, well....I'll talk about this in future post, yeah.

For products wise, I have been faithfully using Sephora daily make up brush cleaner spray for the past few years. here is the snapshot!

 60ml/ 2Oz S$12

The price is suitable for my pocket and I like the alcoholic scent on it.

Till one day, I got tired of using it because the bottle is damn small and I always running out almost every month. I decided to buy MAC brush cleaner instead. According to review from other bloggers, this is the best brush cleaner product in the whole entire world. well.... so I gave it a try...

 235ml/ 7.9Oz S$21

Come to my surprise, its a huge bottle yet the price is still affordable! And it's MAC, ok?? I really in love with this cleaner and it does clean my brushes very well. No alcoholic scent. I feel like my brushes "revives" somehow :-D

But now the problem is, MAC brush cleaner does not come with the spray packaging, so it's quite difficult to use. Here comes the idea, I bought spray container (Sephora house brand $3) and fill the products into the container. Taa Daa...then becomes MAC Brush cleaner SPRAY ! lolss.....

MAC Brush Cleaner and my MAC Brush cleaner "spray" (in Sephora's spray container)

March 2012

As per feedback from my sisters, my blog nature is kinda too informative. No emotion inside. Only Information. YES! It’s all about general informations such as beauty products, cervical vaccines, bible verses, and etc….

On the other hand, I’ve never thought that a blog can be a form of sharing life experience also….in Bahasa, we called it as “curhat”. Okie, maybe I did it in less frequent, I am too lazy to trace all my posts to check which one is "curhat" post and which one is informative post. Never mind then.

Thought of posting a book review also… what do you think? I’ve been stopping my Jap class for 2 months plus and I’ve read 4 books so far. Francis Chan’s book is my fifth book and it almost finishing soon. Crazy women. I read books as if I’d eat it.

Not only read books, I start to exercise again. As per last year I always maintained to exercise once a week. Now, I exercise 3 times a week. The weather now is improving so heavenly much hence I can go back to my swimming routine again. If raining/ windy day, I just do running in office’s gym by myself... Again, Crazy women. I exercise as if there is no tomorrow.

As a result of doing these 2 activities too much, my Jap’s skill starting rotten now , ooh someone pls help me!

Okie, I am quite excited to tell ya this one, I signed up N4 prep class at JCSS Bugis and plan to take N4 test again this year. In facts, my new class will be started on 2nd March, every Friday night. And the test itself will be held on the first Sunday, 1 July.
Honestly speaking, last year I felt like I’ve failed myself pretty much.  I failed both my test and my class at the same year. I did feel down, discouraged, but I didn’t allow myself to be in such a stupid grieve too long, hard enough trying to pick up pieces and study Jap again. Been there, done that!

Excited to be back on track again, I bought some notebooks and stationery from Smiggle last Friday.

Don’t know why recently I am into purple thingy and coincidentally Giselle start to like purple, too.

By the way, I am waiting for Laura Mercier to be launched in Singapore, been desperately want to buy new tinted moisturiser. Sephora, pls, bring them in!
Then I am in the middle of searching the best eye cream for myself. My dark circle is getting worst day by day.... Arggghhh when will my Mary Kay mascara come, been waiting for ages, you know....*rambling mode ON*

So here is the update of me, err..... after typing this long-post and about to publish it, I feel like this post is only contain of my unimportant/ boring rambling and not informative at all.... :-(  still I click publish button and never look back.

Ciao!
