Durian Festive

One of the reason I love Singapore is because of Durian Festive. I loveee to eat Durian.

I pity of those people who doesn't like to eat Durian, either it's because of the strong scent or taste. Poor you!

Oh dear, Durian.... it's like HEAVEN to me. So these post is about  Durian, Durian, and Durian. :-D

Durian is called as the King of the fruits. Only harvest in Asia such as Bangkok, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The harvest season comes only twice a year. It is important to know how to choose a good edible Durian.

Many Durian seller, sell it in a styrofoam, either its fresh or frozen. But the best is, choosing Durian fresh from its shell. How to choose, based on my experience.

1. Pick up the Durian fruit (using gloves or cloth) carefully and smell it. I mean, sniff it.
If it's too pungent meaning too ripe. If it's not pungent meaning not ripe. The best is moderate scent of sweet Durian.

2. Then place it between your palm carefully, next to your ear,  give a little shake. If there is no sound meaning too ripe. If the sounds is loud knocking meaning not ripe. The best is subtle and moderate sound of knocking.

3. Then it's time to open the Durian. Don't ask me how to open it, ask the Durian seller to open for you la! I just know they used a big sharp knife to open. From below part of Durian, they cut an opening and use their hands to break the Durian "line" up.  Durian is ready to serve.

Add on: After eating Durian, there will be some Durian smell linger on your mouth. Don't worry according to old folks (don't know it's true anot), rinse your mouth with the tap water flowing passing the Durian shell. It is believed can lessen the strong smell of Durian. Well, I think brush teeth and rinse with mouthwash does make sense to me.

So what are you waiting for? Need a company to eat Durian together? :-D
