Acne and Rosacea by Alison Bowser

Hi, I've been in the deep-soul searching about acne.

Found this book in the library, it's really enlighten me on how the acnes can really cause troubled in people's life, even cause social problem and suicidal. Here in this book, reveals, why acnes can be formed, what causes acne, how can our lifestyle affects our skin, and what vitamins or supplements can help us to combat acnes. Oh love!

So few points that I learnt from this book:

1. Acnes, spots, pimples, zits, bumps. It's all the same thing. Blockage in our pores where there is no oxygen in the pores, attracts bacteria plus dirt plus sebum which slowly but sure, form acne.

2. It's not good to pick on acne. Remember golden rules when squeezing acne. Squeeze when the time is right! meaning ripe-acne, yellowish papule surface the skin = ready to be squeezed. If you don't see this papule yet, apply tea-tree oil, blemish spot cream or treatment to make it ripe/ dry.

3. Wash face thoroughly. Make a habit to double-cleanse. Cleaning face with cleansing oil and then with facial cleanser. Twice a week exfoliate with damp face cloth or chemical peeling such as facial scrub or *ahem* Clarisonic. DO NOT OVER EXFOLIATE because it will dries up the skin, make false alarm to our pores that the skin needs more *oil* to moisturises the skin and then produce more sebum. More sebum means more oily. Remember to moisturises skin after a good cleanse. Not because you have oily skin you don't need to moisturise. Choose oil-free and non-comedogenic moisturiser. Oily skin type people, standby blotting paper to use throughout the day.

4. For oily type skin, can do twice a week clay based mask treatment. Its to suck out all the impurities and remove dead cell skins in order to prevent blockage. I like to do mask treatment in the night coz it's always soothes the skin, makes my skin and mind happy. Talking about giving your skin a good treats after a long suffering day at office :-)  Kill 2 birds with one stone. Once a month facial is also good, too. :-)

5. Eat more healthy stuff such as veggie, complex carbo, and nuts. Supplements such as zinc, vit A, C, E good for skin. Omega 3 (think about cod liver oil) is good as this contains anti-inflamantary agents. Thinking about what you eat is what you are. Eat junk-food then your skin become *junk. Eat healthy-food then your skin will thank u you. I'm still adjusting my taste buds to oatmeal and unsweetened yogurt, tries to eat more complex carbo and fiber such as oatmeal, brown rice, fruits, and etc. Organic fruits can be a choice too if you can afford coz it's cost a bomb :-(
Good news! If you have insomnia and couldn't sleep in the middle of the night. Tried oatmeal plus honey (for sweet taste) plus dried raisins or cranberries. Or drank a non-fat milk. It contains amino acid tryptophan, to boost a good night sleep.

6. Keep active and stay relax. DO some EXERCISE such as running, aerobics, yoga, and swimming. ALL CADIO EXERCISE IS GOOD. Thinking about the good feeling after a good run and sweating all those stuffs! Sweating means releases all toxic through the pores. Exercise releases endorphin hormones which is why you feel good about yourself after exercise! So put on your sport shoes and run, girl! :-)
Oh ya I heard from my yoga teacher last time, the more human can breath longer, the more relax it is and it can prolongs the life-span of ours. :-)

By the way,  we had a sister gathering, sushi-making and steamboat time! spent few hours to make a good sushi, chit-chat, sister's bonding time :-)

Oh...how I miss this Japanese MOS Burger! Yummy!
