Bible verses in our modern life.

For Christian, Bible is like our bread and butter.

We read bible in our quiet time.

We use bible for cell group’s discussion.

We apply verse in the bible, in our everyday life.

We study bible in bible study.

The most amazing thing is that, even if the bible was created 2000 years ago, or maybe older than that, but the verses are never too old fashioned to be applied in our modern life. And even if the verse is the same, but people read it and decipher it differently.

For me personally, the more I read bible, the more I feel closer to God, and the more I understand about what God’s plan upon my life.

So friends, when times in needs and you don’t know who to turn to, let’s turn to your bible, open it, read it and be ready to discover the solution of your problem.  J

Let’s jump to the post, shall we?

  • Negative thoughts: “I feel so ugly, I feel fat and not attractive.”

1 Samuel 16:7:  The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised”

Who ever feel fat and ugly before? Yes, I do, in fact I ever feel to be the most unattractive women in the world and start to exercise and diet like crazy until one day I found this verse and its open up my eyes. After all, God doesn’t need the prettiest and the sexiest of us. God looks at our hearts. And that’s all that matters.

  • Negative thoughts: “After all, I was born out of wed, my parents don’t love me.”
I’m a mother and I can testify that it’s not easy to carry a child for 9 months. Seriously, pregnancy is A BIG deal. How can A BIG deal is an accident? So there is no such thing as an “accident” and yes! God created you and He has a best plan for you.

Psalm 139: 13-14: For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that full well.

  • Negative thoughts: “Nobody understand me”
Truth is, God understand us from inside out. He even knows my deepest needs and desires.
Facts: Psalm 139: 1-6: You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before. And you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain

  • Negative thoughts: “Why me, God? Why do I have to go through such a difficult situation?”

Remember that there is a rainbow after rain. When you are in a deep valley, remember that the entire difficult situation will eventually come to pass, and green pastures waiting at the corner of the road.

As per stated in the bible, verse: Ecclesiastes 3: 1. There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Jeremiah 29: 11. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

  • Negative thoughts:” I can’t trust God anymore, I need to depend on myself

There’s nothing wrong with being independent but trust God because He has good plan for us. Only good things come out from Him.

Look at the verse of Jeremiah 17: 7-8: But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

  • Negative thoughts:” I’m alone and afraid!”
Don’t be afraid. Take refuge in God.  Psalm 18: I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

  • Negative thoughts: “I’ve been battling with (disease). God please cure me.”
I don’t have the exact verse for healing, there are many stories about Jesus healing, such as: Matthew 9: 18-34: Jesus heals the blind and the mute. In Luke 8, Jesus healed a woman who has been bleeding for 12 years. And many more healing stories so put faith in Him.

  • Negative thoughts:” I wake up late today, heater broke when I'm about to take a bath, missed the bus, stepped on dog's poo, forget my wallet at home. Why I always be the unlucky one!?”

Ok, the example above might be a bit exxagerating. From what I understand, maybe the door of opportunity closes because God doesn’t want you to go through that? I don't know but what I believe is, when we ask with a sincere heart and it will be given to us :-)

Matthew 7:7-11 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him?”

  • Negative thoughts:” I’m so tired!”
Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”
Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

  • Negative thoughts:” I serve and serve but nobody appreciate me”
We Christian, not only to receive God’s blessing and keep it to our self but we are entitled to steward it, and pass it onto other people surrounds us. After all, action speaks louder than words. There’s no point saying I love God but no action.

John 12:26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Even if I serve and no one thank me.

Even if no one appreciate me.

Even if no one sees me.

But I know that God sees me and my serving heart and that’s all matters.

Ephesians 6:10-13: For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

  • Negative thoughts:” I’m a barren woman who unable to conceive ”
Hebrew 11: 11: And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.

Isaiah 54: 1 “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,”

  • Negative thoughts:” I have committed sin, the damage is done, I don’t deserve second chance
Jesus comes not to judge but to save the lost.
John 3: 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
And in Psalm 30: 2, Lord God is faithful to help. There’s never been too late.

There’s many more verses that can be applied to our life but I think I’ll stop here.

God’s word has power and it indeed giving us an assurance in times of doubts, to give us confidence in times of needs. Keep your mind focus on Christ alone, He will give you strength to embrace this life.

Amen.

I hope you enjoy reading this post as much as I enjoy writing it.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
