Yesterday our LG was about discussing Connect Book.
This Connect book is a daily devotional book, empowered by the book of Joshua, Nehemiah, and Thessalonians. And good thing is, this book was given free by Hope Church. (Free one la I like :-D ).
So our small group discussion were discussing about Joshua 1:1-5. To give you a rough idea, Joshua is an appointed leader by God, after the death of Moses. He is ordered to lead his people into God’s promises land. So Joshua is like Moses's apprentice or stuff like that. Soon after reading the whole passage, there are 3 questions which very interesting. But in this post I’ll only share 2 yah…Stay tune....
1. Consider how God is speaking to you today about taking ownership of the leadership role He has placed you recently? ( O_0)
Here is the Simplified question: How do you know that this leadership calling is from God? How to recognize God’s voice?
According to my leader, Its basically about how is your communication skill with God. How often you talk to God and how deep you know about God? Are you always busy with daily task and forget about devotional time? Are you always involved God in everyday life so that you can be sensitive enough to hear God’s voice/ command?
Conclusion is, every people have different kind of ways in communicating with God. It can be advice from your leader, it can be from your devotional quiet time, and it can be from God’s sign in everyday life. So be true to yourself.
2. How do you overcome the overwhelming feelings that sometime come when taking on a new ministry, etc despite knowing that its task from God?
Simplified question: How do you overcome fear when taking on His calling, ex: taking up new ministry, church planting, mission trip, etc...
For me personally, I will hold on into His promise. Knowing the truth that God’s plan is good, is good enough for me to do whatever He wants me to do. True enough, it was confirmed again when Ufong said, God will never test you whatever beyond your power.
Another friend had a different opinion, they just surrender to God and do whatever God ask them to do. Do-ers rather than Think-ers. Good enough. Again I emphasize, every people have different kind of ways / style so be true to yourself.
How I love this kind of interactive discussion about Word of God/ Bible verse which really extremely exciting! I close my post with this verse. Joshua 1: 9, “Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Amen.
