Sometimes I feel silly when communicating with Giselle...As many of you know, I am Indonesian so English is my second language...On the other hand, Giselle's first language is English...hmm well, Singlish, to be honest!!!
So here is the conversation goes:
Here we are after shopping at Fox Plaza Singapura, We've gotten $10 card voucher. yeay!! Giselle was so happy ( just wondering if she really understand what the voucher is) and wanted to take the voucher physically by her hand.
G: Mummy, I want to take the voucher.
M: Hmm okay (giving it to her) ...don't loose it, okay? ..... ( pause awhile, think is it "loose" the correct verb?)
M: Giselle, don't lose it, okay!? (change from "loose" to "lose")
G: .... ( seems don't really understand)....
M: ....
G: Mummy, Do you mean, don't drop it, is it??
M: Ah! well, yess!! ( in my heart, yeah that's the correct word!)
Then here is another conversation , happened when she was still 3 years old. We were in the library with aunt Nia and uncle Velly...Aunt Nia was reading a story book for Giselle and saw there was an elephant picture in the book...
N: Giselle, see what is thisss? ( pointed the elephant's nose picture in the book)
G: Pause awhile, while Me, Nia, and Velly expected that her answer will be elephant's NOSE!!
G: .....
G: This is Elephant's Trunk!!!
Wow!!!
Three of us were quite surprise! We really didn't expect that a 3 year old girl know how to differentiate between NOSE and TRUNK...Quick one in Bahasa, nose= hidung and trunk= belalai.
Well, reached home on that day, I quickly browsed my dictionary again! See what a 4 year old kid can do to me, eh?
clap clap, well done, Giselle!
